the color of our planet from far, far away.

Over the weekend we rescued a little mid-century sofa from an estate sale. I've been wanting a new couch (unnecessarily of course, along with other things for the house*), and this one has a great shape so it will do. I may get it reupholstered, but Clint keeps proclaiming how much he loves it. And I must say he's spent more time downstairs, away from his guitars, since it arrived.

In other good news, Phoenix Design Week commences this evening! I've got a busy five days ahead.

*Any time I think about decorating our house, I get out of control... first it's a couch, then rugs, then bedding, headboard, lamp, artwork, etc. Before I know it I'm completely overwhelmed and I force myself to stop and forget everything. Someday perhaps I'll have the time, energy and money to do it all.

  1. I love it! And you know, it always snowballs. Once you change one thing, then the whole room looks old.

We ended up with a new TV after I redid our living room because the old one looked... well, old.

  4. I really like that couch! I bet it's even better because you got it at an estate sale and you didn't have to pay a ton for it.

  5. Fabulous couch. I agree with Clint, I love the color. I used to be the same way with our home. Decorating is so overwhelming, but also so much fun.

  6. Nice. I'm wanting to redo my place sooo much. First, though, I'm doing a major cleaning / de-cluttering and then deciding where to start. I did repaint! But only white because it's a rental. Boo.

  7. I like your pillows...oh and the couch too!

It's very tricky to not want to get carried away when decorating. I try to convince myself on a daily basis that it is WAY better to want then to have.

Good luck with your upcoming busyness with the PDS.

  8. Shut up. That's awesome!

We are in desperate need of a couch ourselves. I'm refusing to buy one to fit our tiny temporary place, until we are more settled.

So for the meantime, we watch t.v. on small uncomfortable chairs or the rug. Hey less reason to watch t.v. right?

Oh and I HEAR you on the overwhelming design problem. It is always something isn't? ugh. money.time. money.

  15. Exactly how I am feeling these days... some day the house will be decorated, but when? if it overwhelms me to the point of unproductivity? One piece at a time... Love the couch:)

  20. It's a fabulous couch! I love the color :) Very calming the way you have everything set up :)

My decorating obsession is with paint. Can't wait for our own house so I can paint the walls red, and have a Marrakesh blue bedroom. :)

that is the perfect shaped couch. if it were mine, i'd be reupholstering it. then shopping for new pillows, and sewing curtains, and... hey wait! is it possible we are related?
