no one looks too surprised.

“The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details...” William Morris

I love that.

You see, when Clint asked my dad if he could marry me, supposedly the response (besides yes, of course) was a fair warning that I'm like the Princess and the Pea. What can I say? That's the way I came - picky and particular. I care about every single detail. I notice the details. For me, it's the details that make or break something. Am I the only one who doesn't see that as a bad thing? Because I think there's something about it that's pretty wonderful.

I'm also continually inspired by details and I don't think that will ever change.

  1. are you learning calligraphy? i have a kit that i doodle with often, but i usually just end up writing my name over and over in my non-calligraphy handwriting.

i don't think it's a bad thing to pay attention to detail. i think it's wonderful.

it's seems that everything you do is fine tuned and detail conscious. i really aspire to be more like you. (sorry, that sounds super cheesy, but it's true.)

  2. Here's the funny thing... I'm picky and particular as well, but the things I'm picky and particular about are totally different than you. Do you care to track every single dollar you spend by category? Nope. Do I care that my logo is squished? Nope. ;)

  3. I think that's an incredible quality. That's what makes you so unique and so artistic.

I love the way your dad described you. It shows he knows you well. Very sweet. Glad you wrote that down. Cherish it.

  4. p.s. do you know what my dad told graham when he asked if he could marry me?

"keep kate fed, and make sure she sleeps, and you'll be happy forever."

  7. I feel the same way. Sometimes I hate it because it means I'm always noticing, and often criticizing, details that other people can overlook. But, when it comes to my own work, I think the final result is all the better for it.

  8. i'm extremely detail oriented as well. i think it's mostly a good thing, but sometimes my perfectionism is a bit too much.

i'm getting married in august and i worry that i'm going to get upset if all our little details don't work out just so. i'm counting on the fact that i will be so euphoric about marrying my best friend that i won't notice!

  9. When asked in our wedding video what Hudson liked most about me he answered, "She is very particular."

And for the record, I think it's awesome to be that way.

  15. You sound JUST like my boyfriend. He's a graphic designer too. I think it's actually a super common characteristic of designers. Not so much the rule for fine artists... but designers are so organized, detail oriented, and particular! I definitely think that type of perfectionism makes a good designer into a great one.
