searching the world for what's right here.

Every so often, I find myself really disenchanted with thrifting. But then, one trip will result in a handful of items like these in all their color-coordinated, retro typography glory. (Not to mention in the same trip I found a set of yellow Massimo Vignelli stacking dinnerware and a little black vintage Jonathan Logan dress.)

And so I'm reminded that it's a source of creative inspiration that I don't want to let go of anytime soon.

  5. Today I passed up a Tupperware "baker" (a shape I've never seen before) in the exact same color as those Massimo plates (same color as your logo). It was very tempting.

Intead I got a bright sunny yellow vintage Tupperware bowl that makes me smile. :)

That's what's great about thrifting - there are good days and not so good days.

  9. i swear you have thrifting superpowers. i get bummed out with thrifting really easily, because it's all this junk that was someone's life, and now no one wants it. you know? but then obviously there are the treasures.

  10. That little accessories box is perfect. I love it so much.

You MUST post a picture of the Jonathon Logan dress! What a find!

How could you, the queen of thrifting, ever get disenchanted by it? It seems like you must walk into a thrift store and find something amazing every time. I still think about that Michael Kors purse you got.

P.S. love your watercolors below. You are a talented lady!

  12. I love the photo you took of all the stuff you found. Yeah, when you have been thrifting for a long time I really think that it can become a love/hate thing. But, then you have a day like that and BAM you love it all over again. Great finds!

  15. Oh, you have such a knack for finding treasures at thrift stores! I once found this amazing lamp shaped like a lemon -- very Andy Warhol-esque -- about a year ago. I put it in Carson's room. It added just the right amount of whimsy and it was perfect for late-night feedings.

Well, unbeknownst to me, it tipped over one day a few months ago and the light bulb burned through the plastic of the lemon. I smelled something weird, went in and there it was, melting away. Totally useless at that point. I had to chuck it. I was so sad! But it was definitely my best-ever thrift store find and I was heartbroken to lose it!

Definitely post a picture of the dress. LOVE 50's cocktail dresses.

  16. Agreed. My whole closet used to be completely thrifted. Over the years I've moved to a more mixed wardrobe, but those little vintage accessories and trinkets are something I can never tire of!
