Maybe it's the summer heat, or maybe I'm just getting bored, but lately I've been wanting to cut my hair short. I actually like my hair long, but 1) it's not very healthy right now and 2) somehow I never quite learned to use bobby pins correctly so I end up with the same three hairdos: straight, loose curls, or just pulled up in a bun or ponytail. And usually the latter. Having it cut short and styled might be a little less boring and solve some of my perpetual hair predicaments, but it could also bring a whole new set of issues (110 degrees = sweat = wavy hair, and not the cute kind). Hmmm.
So I thought I might try something new today and rock a summer turban thanks to Liz's tutorial. Carmen recently sent me a surprise gift of some vintage Vera scarves for my collection, including this pink and red beauty. It's bright and long and perfect for this. I even wore it out of my house (the truth is, sometimes I'm not very brave when it comes to these things).
By the way, I have discovered that few things infuriate my husband more than when I wear lipstick. Apparently he likes to kiss me or something.

you are such a doll! I love this look. Thanks for the tutorial link!
ReplyDeleteawesome!! love, love, love this.
ReplyDeleteAaron haaates when I wear stuff on my lips. Must be a loving husband thing.
ReplyDeleteDon't cut your hair right before summer unless it's still long enough so that you can pull it up. I made that mistake. Twice. I hated myself for it.
And you look darling, as always.
i actually thought to myself this morning that i needed to do something new with my hair and i always think i should cut myself some bangs.... but now i'm thinking maybe i should try a head scarf before i do anything too drastic! :) thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteand p.s. you are totally rocking this look! :)
trouble with short hair is then you couldn't do a ponytail or any other fancy do if you wanted to...you would always have to DO your hair. Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteSo darling. You totally pull that off! And having just chopped my hair off, I can relate to the feeling you're having. I LOVED it for the first month, but now I want my luscious locks back. :)
ReplyDeleteWay to be brave. I am the same way with head scarfs, I wear them around the house thinking 'hey! I got this' but ALWAYS end up pulling them off. I need to just go for it. Your style looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty scarf! I hope you don't mind my asking, but what kind of camera/lens do you use? All of your pictures are so pretty and bright.
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeletebut that is totally clint's lipstick color. i don't see why he'd care.
ReplyDeletei've never tried a scarf on my head, but it looks lovely on you!
i LOVE your hair long—it's absolutely beautiful—but it will grow out again if you decide to cut it. i'm wanting a change with my hair, but thinking of super dark or super light.
[see you in less than a week! we're so excited.]
You are brave. It looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love this! I'm going to try it tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love long hair, I think a short cut can be so beautiful. I'm all for change so I say do it!
Terrifically cute! Though I will say you could probably rock a pixie cut a la Ginnifer Goodwin.
ReplyDeleteI know, such a devil's advocate.
Also, Dillon hates lipstick as well. Unless it tastes good. Whoops, TMI.
You look delish my dear!!! Maybe next time Clint should wear the same lipstick so there won't be any complaining:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so darling! I love the entire ensemble. That's a great way to wear a scarf. I'm glad you shared it.
ReplyDeleteYou are also TINY. I don't think I could ever go on a raw diet, but I'll keep it in mind because you look great!
You would look adorable with short hair. I have had short hair a few times in my life and it feels so nice.
ReplyDeleteI hate wearing lipstick. I never do. I am a lipgloss adddict, though!
Ooh that's a cute look. I'll see if I can pull it off with out looking too ethnic. It might look costumey on me, being Latina, some looks look over the top on me.
ReplyDeleteOh lady, you rock this well!!
ReplyDeleteYou look like an ad from the 60's. Love it.
ReplyDeleteSo remember how I'd braid your hair in seminary? I told myself I'd grow mine out so I could have hair like yours. If I can do my hair nearly everyday (learn how to use bobby pins AND a curling iron) you can too :) Let's have long hair, together!
ReplyDeletebabe. you look so incredible.
ReplyDeleteand i bet you look just as great with a short cut. why not?
You look so lovely (as always), Angela. Your new scarf is so pretty, and I seriously need to watch that tutorial! I want a pretty turban headband!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think your hair is so pretty! I remember that was one of the first things I noticed when I met you, because it had this pretty curl to it that I knew my hair would never be able to hold! XO
love this look. you look so summery! thanks for sharing the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way about headgear. Even with just a slouchy beanie. I should bust out my own Vera scarves and just be brave!
ReplyDeletei can't decide if i should cut my hair short again... if only jason didn't hate short hair. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! I love the scarf and the look so much! :)
ReplyDeleteI want to try this! I've kinda got the same dilemma as you... i want to cute my hair short because i don't know what to do with it, but then again, if i cut it short, i think i'll have the same problem...
haha!
kenzie
Adorable! I would totally wear this out of the house, too! In fact, maybe I'll try my own summer turban...
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, that is darling. YOU are darling. I don't blame clint. haha! jk! you are just gorgeous...red lips and all.
ReplyDeleteYour gorgeous! Love the scarf. I feel the same way when it comes to pulling of certain looks, but you definitely do!
ReplyDeleteOh and short hair is always best!!
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf! And I also love my short hair. I miss long hair but not really. I'm actually thinking of trimming it again. Short hair is fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else. Gorgeous! I knew you'd know just what to do with those scarves. I hope you're settling into your new home...
ReplyDeleteyou are so pretty. and i love that scarf. i too am starting to grow tired of my long hair, but am stubborn and am trying to enjoy it for a little while atleast! :)
ReplyDeletelove this! you look amazing.
ReplyDeletei've never been very precious about my hair...i chop at it all the time (mostly to its detriment. haha)
my matt hasn't cut his in over 10 years...and yesterday morning after getting tangled up in his dreads he vowed this was going to be the summer to cut them. haha. heat does these sorts of things to us.
Or something
ReplyDeletesuper super cute
ReplyDeleteMy husband refuses to give me a real kiss when I have lipstick on. Grr!
ReplyDeleteYou look AMAZING in these photos. That headscarf treats you very well!
Wow, I'm totally like you on the whole, "Wear something unique but feel too intimidated/weird to wear it in public." Kudos!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. That scarf is lovely! And I understand your hair predicament. As soon as mine gets long I get a burning desire to chop it all off - but then I always long to have my long hair back! Sigh...
ReplyDeleteKatie xo
omg! your blog is kind of AMAZING. i love it! and you totally pull that off!
ReplyDeletethat looks great on you! you are honestly so beautiful.
ReplyDeletelook at you!
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing out some scarves too- but now I'm going to learn to tie them as you do, and rock them at work.
thanks for the link!
