new soul.

Even though I had been wishing for a quick vacation somewhere, we had a nice long weekend at home - simple, quiet, unplanned. On Saturday we ventured out to Phoenix and met my dad for a delicious lunch at St. Francis, then did some vintage shopping. It's always so nice to spend a whole day with Clint, even if we're just driving around looking at old houses and neighborhoods.

So happy that September is here. When fall comes around, I think a little part of me comes back to life. And this year I'm especially looking forward to that renewed spirit.

  5. We are approaching the best time of the year, for sure. So many birthdays and fun holidays. Yay! I just hope it cools off sometime soon. I think the heat has driven me crazy this year for the first time.

PS I never found out what was wrong with Hazel. Sometimes, babies just cry and nothing you do makes it better. Fortunately for me, Hazel rarely does that.

  12. Sometimes I feel as if Fall should be the turning point of the year, versus January first. It's as if the world finally awakens and becomes fully alive, even more so than spring.

  15. I agree about the renewed spirit. Fall is refreshing after a long hot summer and it gets everybody around you excited too! I love spending days with my husband no matter what we're doing. I hate it when he's gone or we don't get needed time together!

  16. St. Francis is da bomb. My friend is the pastry chef there and makes me some of their dishes when I'm too lazy to drive all the way out there. Did you go to that vintage shop next door? They have the best scarves!
