start again.

For years I've been wanting to compile my favorite recipes in a book. (I've tried going digital, but I just prefer a hard copy to reference while I cook.)

When I found this vintage recipe folder, complete with gold foil and separate compartments for each category of food, I decided to use it to organize some of my favorites. So I'm slowly transferring recipes onto cards that I designed with matching illustrations. I'm not sure it's the best system, but I'm going to try it out.

How do you organize your recipes?

  3. Adorable!

Mine are all over the place. I have a few written in books (that aren't nearly as cute as this one!), a few bookmarked on my computer, a few just floating around... I need to organize too! Love this. Especially those illustrations.

  4. Your cards are fantastic, and the holder is really perfect. I prefer a three-ring binder with plastic sleeves too, I print up my recipes with a uniform style, it works really well because I can keep them in their sleeve and out of the binder when I'm using the recipe.

I would love to know what each divider says on that vintage recipe holder too.

  10. Very cute! I've been trying to figure out a recipe system for a while - such a daunting task! I started a blog to post my recipes on to make them searchable and easy to share, but I still have a ton to add.

  11. I love that!

Dillon actually organized mine for me in a binder with sheet protectors. Boring, but very functional, and I don't have a heart attack if anything spills on the pages.

  12. I organize them by throwing everything into my cupboard and digging through them whenever I need one. :)

  13. That recipe folder is gorgeous! After a lot of failire and experiementation, I've found a system that works.

The first time I cook something, I do it straight from the recipe book or from the internet (using evernote or pinterest to collate online recipes). If I cook it a couple of times and like it, it gets added to my recipe book. This is JUST tried, tested recipes that I'd be happy to cook for friends and family. It's a really pretty book that my friend gave me: http://annabelvita.com/recipes-on-the-move

My mum has a gorgeous ring binder full of plastic sleeves, organised alphabetically by principle ingredient. I am very jealous of it!

  16. Hard copies of recipes for sure. I have a 3-ring binder for my recipes with page protectors. Not nearly as sweet-looking, but functional for sure. I like to slip my recipes in there and don't have to worry what size it's printed, since I won't get around to transferring to recipe cards. The page protecters are because I am a messy cook. ~Marily

  18. I'm with you on the hard copy. I like to have everything hard copy, otherwise I never even look at it.

  20. While I love the idea of having a sleek little iPad in the kitchen, I still prefer spilling on a hard copy. Now in regards to your belly. Take care of it in California, and tell us soon as you know its gender-nicity.
