you try to move your feet.

I'm feeling good about the two goals I set for this year. Now that the first most important thing has been accomplished, it's time to work on the second. An eight pound baby and loads of water weight off gave me a head start, but there's still a ways and a while to go. A girl can only live in elastic-waist skirts for so long.

So it's back to more fruits and vegetables, a few less donuts, and hopefully a steady schedule of exercise (itching to run again!). This is me, holding myself accountable...

  1. You can do it girl!! However, I must say, your elastic-waist skirts are adorable! We've all been there with the baby weight, and it's no fun at all. Just don't be too hard on yourself, you just made a human! ...and allow a doughnut here and there :)

  2. Beautiful photos! Happy, encouraging colors. Please know that the baby weight does come off! You'll be back to normal in 6 months naturally. So, go easy on yourself. But I can totally relate to wanting to get back to the way things were...

  6. Gorgeous blog! Glad I found it. I had my baby 7 months ago and I am barely starting to snug into my skinny jeans. Hopefully you are better off than me!!

  7. yay for veggies!! i've been eating crazy amounts of vegetables lately, but i don't think i've lost a single pound. haha. probably because i still haven't given up my donuts/cookies... :)

  8. I heard that if you breastfeed the weight will just melt off, but not so. The body likes to hang on to 15 pounds or so while nursing. It's been a year now for me and I'm ready to wean him off, but he wants none of that!

one of your goals is to lose 50 pounds and "lose all that extra weight" (referring to your 2012 post). i'm sure you know that gaining weight during pregnancy isn't equivalent to 50 pounds, maybe 25ish, so i'm assuming you also want to lose extra weight which equals the 50 but you look like you have a small frame as well so i'm concerned that your perception of an ideal weight is skewed. i'm all for losing baby weight but 50 pounds to lose is too much... just saying.

    2. Yes, I gained about 50 pounds, too. I saw someone posting about nursing. For some the weight comes right off. For others it's gradual. I've lost weight then gained again because nursing made me so crazy hungry in the beginning. Now I'm starting to lose weight again. Every body is different!!
Good for you, Angela, for having good healthy goals!

  12. Good for you, getting back to good health! Don't forget to eat lots of good fats too so your milk stays nice and nutritious for baby Margo. :) And remember, it took 9 months for your body to change, so it'll take time to change back. I was really discouraged after I had Audrey and had 50 pounds to lose (no really, when I got home from the hospital I was 50 pounds heavier than when I got pregnant!). I wish I would have listened to others when they said not to be so hard on myself instead of stressing as much as I did. Many tears of sadness shed!

  13. such beautiful colors! you can do it, pretty lady!

small things, like feeling like your old self in some simple way, will help you be a wonderful mama to your little gal!

but do keep the donuts and elastic skirts for a rainy day!

Please go easy on yourself! You just had a baby (who's adorable, by the way), and your body is still recovering from pregnancy and birth. Eating healthy is great, but please eat enough to keep up your supply and stay well!

  20. just remember it takes 9 months to put it on, so give yourself some grace in getting the weight off. you look amazing!! what worked for me was cutting out most grains and sugar and sticking to lots of vegetables, like you're doing.

  21. You can do it! good luck :)

  23. ps i gained over 60lbs with my first pregnancy and lost it all in 4 months, just by being faithful to working out and eating well. xx

  24. Well I think your elstic waisted skirts are very cute.

I am sure you will be where you want to be in no time but remember to enjoy the first few months too :)

  25. Agreed with what Lottie said, I'm sure you look smashingly cute in everything! Your baby is soooo precious!

  26. Your photos are always so fresh. Have I said that before? I think I have.

Go Angela! Do what feels good for your body...

  27. I really love the way you capture the day to day life of a mother in a beautiful way. You are an inspiration to us all! and little Margo is lovely.

Also, I love that you love donuts too...I sometimes feel like such a kid b/c I'm pretty sure I enjoy them even more than my kids. In fact, next week is Sprint Break which means a day trip to Frost Donuts for us all!

  28. Angela, I agree with the go easy on yourself routine. :) Your body just did something amazing and is going to take some time to recover. I know all about the 60 lbs...I gained 50 with 3 of them and 60 with another. And I always lost it all, but not until after nursing was over, still about 15 lbs to go. Don't despair, it usually comes off easiest and fastest with your first! What is most important is that your baby is getting what she needs right now, and that is a happy, relaxed Mama. Sometimes its ok if the donuts make you happy!

  29. You got this, girl. Just remember that all things take time. Don't get frustrated if it takes longer than you hope. Just enjoy the process. (Words I tell myself everyday and then often don't listen to them.)

  30. oh hello sister. i see you've been creating beautiful things while i've been away. good luck with your weight loss plans. i always lost about 15 pounds the month i stopped nursing. ;-) yay! your food looks delicious and i miss you a lot.

  31. Angela: good luck w/ your weight loss. i know first hand (done it 4 times) the challenge of post-baby weight loss. you are definitely on the right track. asparagus, bell peppers, & radishes are definitely on your side!
