shades of pink.

Today while cutting up these red and golden beets (for roasting - my favorite way to eat them), I stopped to admire the colorful mess left behind. Don't you kinda love how they stain your fingers bright pink?

I'm considering eliminating wheat from my diet again for a bit. It made such a difference for me last time. If you know of any great gluten-free sites, please share!

  1. I'm allergic to raw beets (random I know, but they cause temporary vocal paralysis when I eat them raw) but I love them roasted or in soups, or pickled.

I eliminated gluten about 6 months ago (with a few regrettable lapses). I love how much better I feel now. For me, that's the #1 motivator. I've posted a few things on my blog about it.

Good luck with it, it's always a bit challenging whenever you make a change to your diet, but there really is so much support out there for a wheat free/gluten free diet.

  5. beets are one of the prettiest vegetables ever. I'm also considering giving up wheat for awhile...I eat far too much and it's not so great on my health. But bread is sooo goooood. Sigh.

  9. Excited you are going gf again! :) There's a lot of sites out there with great recipes (and pretty much any recipe can be modified to be gf), but I've enjoyed With Style & Grace: http://withstyle.me/. She incorporates parties and entertaining into the blog as well.

I think the most stressful thing about eating gf is going to someone else's house for dinner or going to a restaurant that you aren't sure has a special menu. People still really don't understand what gluten is or why certain people need to/choose to avoid it!

  15. New reader here, and really enjoying your blog so far! I've been eating gluten free for a while, and every time I slip up it is a confirmation of how terrible gluten make me feel. I second the Udi's bread, bagels, and pizza crust. Also if you happen to shop at Trader Joes, they have a list on their website of all the gluten free products they carry.
